The Alaskan Malamute is a strong breed with a huge, furry mane. It hails from the American state of Alaska and is accustomed to cold temperatures and snowy terrains as shown by its beautiful thick fur which is commonly coloured in shades of white, grey, and black. The Malamute makes a fantastic animal actor due to its intelligence and love of exercise. In the past, we’ve seen many of these dogs star in film and television productions looking for an impressive sledge dog.
Having originally been bred to serve as a sled dog in harsh temperatures, the Alaskan Malamute is defined by their strength and endurance, features that aren’t always highlighted due to how playful and friendly they are. Their large size gives them a striking appearance, especially when used in tandem with human actors and other animals, an environment which they integrate into seamlessly due to their love of people. Their high prey drive means that they may need to be watched around smaller animals but their natural obedience and intelligence means they can be taught to tolerate them.
Before any of our dog breeds become available as talent for hire, they are comprehensively checked behaviourally and medically to ensure they are able to comfortably work within a range of modelling and acting environments. Our team at Urban Paws UK also checks to make sure any Alaskan Malamute dogs have all of the required vaccinations and health checks before being sent out on a job.
